Program for Children with Behavior Concerns
Harwood Center has a Behavior Analyst and a Behavior Specialist on-staff to provide consultation to classroom teachers. Additionally, the Behavior Analyst/
Specialist is available to work with families who have children with challenging behavior in their homes. The following are some of the areas in which the Behavior Analyst/Specialist can provide assistance:
• Tantrums
• Sleep problems
• Attention problems
• Noncompliance
• Toilet training
• Mealtime problems
• Parent-child interactions
• Sibling relationships
• Destructive and disruptive behaviors (e.g., screaming, throwing objects)
• Aggressive behavior (e.g., hitting, kicking, biting)
• Self-injurious behavior (e.g. head-banging, hand-biting)
• Stereotypic behavior (e.g., body-rocking, hand-flapping)
• Social interaction problems (e.g., lacks eye contact, no imitation skills, little interaction with others)
• Developing programs for children with autism spectrum disorders
Behavioral support services are provided at no charge to eligible children under the age of three and their families.
