Achievments

Harwood Center consistently receives high marks from regulatory and funding agencies.  In fact, Harwood is an EIRA designated by TDOE, a United Way “Partner” – its highest rank, and a “Three-Star Center,” the Tennessee Department of Human Services’ highest rating.  Last year, the United Way’s program review demonstrated that 80% of Harwood’s children made progress in all areas of development and 98% improved overall.

In February 2006, Harwood graduated from the Grant Center’s Program for Non-Profit Excellence. As part of the inaugural class of seven agencies, Harwood participated in a rigorous, three-year program focusing on capacity building, increasing Harwood’s ability to carry out its mission, sustain its operations, adapt to changing times, and demonstrate accountability.

Harwood Center is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities and the Tennessee Department of Human Services.  Harwood is the only agency in Shelby and surrounding counties funded by the Tennessee Department of Education to provide specialized programs for children under three with autism spectrum disorders. These services are provided at no cost to eligible families.
